Troy, NY
Nice day in Troy, NY to enjoy the Waterfront Farmer’s Market and more.
As we cruised up the Hudson from New Baltimore to Troy, we saw everything from flocks of geese lounging in the river to builders of beautiful boats, a World War II destroyer escort, USS SLATER in Albany, the Albany skyline and HUGE piles of scrap metal being loaded into bulk carrier SHIPS (not barges) at the Port of Coeymans to be hauled down the Hudson to who knows where. All we could think of was the effort that went into the making of whatever it was that was now scrap requiring disposal. We also saw some debris and branches up high on the bridge supports that showed how high the water was in the past couple of weeks due to the heavy rains.
The Farmer’s Market was great with lots of booths selling local fresh and prepared foods, crafts, distilleries and more. Troy also had a nice memorial park for those lost in the Korean and Viet Nam wars.
