Lakefield, ON, CN

It was just 5 miles but four locks to Lakefield. The weather got hot again and we were approaching the weekend so we decided to stay put in Lakefield for three nights in the Lakefield Marina. There were many people out for walks, and many showed interest in loopers and how it’s going. That’s one of the best things about taking this on, everyone is friendly and interested. It is nice to talk to so many of them.

Lakefield is a pretty community with plenty of flowers and homes with yards that have received a lot of TLC. It was a commercial boating center for quite some time and some excellent canoes were built in several shops in Lakefield.

The Lakefield Market was outstanding with a large selection of very fresh vegetables, meats and freshly made ready to cook dinners.

We had dinner at the Cassis Bistro which was probably the best restaurant dinner we’ve had since we’ve been on this journey. The food was well seasoned, nicely cooked and very flavorful. We strongly recommend visiting this bistro if in Lakefield.

We don’t have a lot of pictures but enjoyed our stay in Lakefield.
