Bobcaygeon, ON, CN
Hey ! All was going along until boat luck came upon us - we were cruising across Buckhorn Lake following the charts and in shallow water and what we thought was 2.5 feet of water under the keel was probably less than 2 feet due to lack of rain for the last month around the area. Needless to say we must have hit a submerged stump or rock (we think) and obviously damaged something (probably a propeller or?) as now when we run the boats RPM up past the speed of a 🐢 turtle we feel a slight shaking. So here we sit in a marina in Bobcaygeon, Ontario waiting for a diver to come in the morning to inspect the bottom of the boat. At least the marina is nice and the town has everything you need with in walking distance - but fingers crossed it’s minor, we can get repairs made and be on our way.
We are staying busy for sure on the locks - it’s ALOT of work Ann says her biceps should be very fit with all the line throwing and pulling she has done since our departure. It was pretty cruise from Lakefield. Clear and Stoney Lakes and Deer Bay have many islands which makes the transit very scenic. Of course, many of the islands have houses on them and one island has a church that can only be reached by boat.
Buckhorn Lock, Lock 31, was by far the busiest lock we’ve seen so far. We waited over one and a half hours to get through the lock before we could continue to Bobcaygeon.
