Kingston, ON, CN

After a pleasant night in Cressy, we made another short trip to Kingston, this time staying at the Portsmouth Olympic Harbor Marina on the west side of town. The harbor is directly outside of the wall of the Kingston Penitentiary which was kind of creepy but it is long out of use and now just an expensive tourist venue.

When we got there we saw several different classes of sailboats out on the bay doing some racing. Brought back memories of Will’s sailing at the Naval Academy. Kingston remains an important world class sailing venue and that was clear. The Canadian Olympic Regattas Kingston (CORK) has an obvious presence there. It would have been fun to be there in a couple of weekends when a major regatta was taking place.

There is not much accessible in Kingston from this marina without using transport. Will did jump on the electric bike to go get a haircut and then he saw a neighborhood with some modern houses interspersed, many of the them backing up right onto bay off of Lake Ontario.
