After a couple of hours trip, we arrived at the homey Prinyer’s Cove Marina. Dave and Emily Wood bought the marina in 2023 and have made it their own. They were both very hospitable and ensured we had everything we needed. Prinyer’s Cove is a quiet little cove with great anchoring and a couple of empty mooring balls for transients. We enjoyed the day there.

A marina resident offered Will a car to check out the area and Will couldn’t resist. He drove the twenty minutes into Picton which was bustling and exciting on a Sunday afternoon. Will went to Base 31 which is a commercial venture to repurpose the former Canadian Forces Base Picton into a cultural destination. Of course, Will was attracted to the fact that there is a very small aviation museum in one of the original hangers with a British Lancaster bomber inside. He learned that out of the original 50 or so buildings on the site, which was built to support World War II aircrew training, about 40 remain which are designated as historic buildings and will all be refurbished and used as part of the Base 31 experience.

Will also went down to see the ferry landing and saw a sign that proves the locals are worried about visitors speeding on their roads. On the way out of Picton, Will stumbled on Bird House City. See the pics and you may recognize the Belleville City Hall turned into a birdhouse.
