Hastings, ON, CN

Return back to Hastings where, there time, we went to Lady B’s Italian restaurant for dinner. It’s a cute little bistro right on the entrance road to the marina which was closed when we came through before. Food was very good, especially the melon and prosciutto starter and the homemade pasta. Do not miss this restaurant if you’re ever in Hastings, Ontario.

The locking highlight of the day was another transit through the Peterborough lift lock. It’s VERY unnerving to be carefully moving into a bathtub of water that has an abrupt drop of 65 feet off the end! The view was spectacular but only after safely tying to the lock wall and shutting off the engines. In the video you can see our bathtub going down while the other side is going up. What engineering!

Other than that, pretty non-eventful day to Hastings through three other locks and a never-ending 18 mile journey from Peterborough to Rice Lake.
