Kingston, ON, CN
Three nights in Kingston.
We started in the Thousand Islands today and, since it was a Saturday, the St Lawrence River was crazy with boats. Saw some more beautiful homes and scenery and then crossed the St Lawrence River to enter Canada and arrive in the fun filled, action packed Canadian city of Kingston, Ontario.
The docking at Confederation Harbor was a breeze and we were met with three really efficient dock hands that tied us off in minutes! We set up quickly, checked in with the Canadian authorities, and were surprised to be greeted by one our new found boat friends from San Diego, Steve who had been in Kingston with his wife Jill for a few days. They have a beautiful Ranger Tug and brought it over land all the way from San Diego on a trailer and put it in the water at Haverstraw on the Hudson about seven weeks ago. Steve went to West Point but Will likes him anyway (LOL). We headed up to the big buskers rendezvous and market in the park adjacent to the marina and then walked around the town in the afternoon. The area is jam packed with fun restaurants and bars and there were buskers on every corner, providing all sorts of entertainment for all the eager onlookers. We had a great day and picked up some gelato, and later some excellent Pizza at Score Pizza and headed back to our boat to relax for the evening. We will stay in Kingston until Tuesday because there is so much to do and see. Some of our observations include noticing what a good time the Canadians on our dock seem to be having day and night - laughing and carrying on till all hours. Such a fun loving group of people! And the Canadian Goose should be the national bird because they are literally everywhere, in the water, on the docks, in the parks - Didn’t see any in the restaurants or shops but it wouldn’t have surprised us if we did!
