Kingston, ON, CA

Hurray! We’re finally underway! After having to delay a few days for some last minute maintenance issues, we’ve finally hit the seas. After topping off fuel at a whopping $5.799/gallon we made our way from Clayton, NY to Kingston, Ontario, Canada. It was an easy, 18 mile-day to get our sea legs back and make sure all systems are GO!

This is our third time to Kingston on the boat so we only stayed one night. (We also drove over from New York a couple of times while we were staying in the Thousand Islands.) Ann’s favorite bakery was out of sourdough but we enjoyed a great pizza and cocktails at Wooden Heads Gourmet Pizza.

After pizza we sat on a bench in Battery Park near the marina and enjoyed the evening watching the people, posing for photos and taking a break after a week of boat work back in New York.

The building with the British telephone booth is the Tourist Information Office was originally built as a train station on the Kingston and Pembroke Railway. The train engine is on the track where the train would have run north from Kingston. The John A. mentioned in “Spirit of John A.” on the side of the train is Sir John A. McDonald, the first Prime Minister of Canada. Learned that Kingston was the capital of Canada for a very short time before the capital moved to Ottawa. Sir John lived in Kingston and the house is now a Canadian national historical site. We did not visit though.
