Easy trip from Picton back to the jumping-off-point for the Trent Severn Waterway, Trentport Marina in Trenton, Ontario. We planned two nights in Trenton to relax for a second, enjoy a great lunch spot, The Counter, visit one of Ann’s favorite thrift shops and bookstores, get a few groceries, and prepare for the locks.

Two beautiful days. Ann commented that it’s always fun to go back to places you’ve visited before and revisit familiar places that you enjoyed during previous visits. This is our third stop in Trenton, twice last summer, and we really enjoyed our stay. We are a few weeks ahead of the rest of the Great Loop boaters following behind us, so the docks were quiet. Last year when we were here in July the place was packed with transient boats. We have met two boats actually finishing up the loop, who will cross their starting point in Ohio - so their adventure is almost over, which is quite an accomplishment.

The swans are prolific this year. They are so beautiful and majestic, and definitely act like they own the place. No getting in their way, and as you can see in the photo, clearly ignoring the no fishing, no swimming rules entirely.

Of course, to Will’s delight, the Royal Canadian Forces Base Trenton C-17s put on a show on the second day. They were doing some high speed fly-bys with steeply banked turns, which were pretty impressive for such a big heavy cargo plane.
